This car had a spongy clutch when I bought it at an auction (not allowed to test drive). I had the clutch system bled to remove air which slightly reduced the problem. The problem was at it's worst on warm-hot days when the engine had been idling (in traffic) or if the A/C was on (causing heat in the engine compartment). This problem got worse over a few years until the clutch began failing and was leaking brake/clutch fluid.
