Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Lexus ES350. The contact stated that the trunk failed to secure and opened occasionally without warning. The contact had to make several attempts with the function button to lock and unlock the trunk. An independent mechanic stated that there was a manufacturer recall to service the failure with the trunk opening. The dealer stated that the recall expired, but they provided no solution. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V006000 (air bags) and the dealer made no mention of when the manufacturer would supply the parts for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available...updated 06/27/17 dealership gave discount on repair. *
