IS 250 IS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,100 miles

On a dry surface on the way to work, I was driving along at 65 MPH when my check engine light, ABS light, warning light and another all came on at once. I immediately noticed that I had very little to no power to my vehicle. The vehicle also had a visible shutter to it at that time. I continued to work where I investigated online to see if anyone else has had this problem. To my surprise, this was a common problem with Lexus and the VCS light coming on, causing the issues that I described. I have dropped my vehicle off at a reputable shop, since Lexus dealerships want a $200 diagnostics test run to determine that they don't know what's wrong. The dealerships also want you to have valve and engine work done that is not needed for this problem. I am starting at the source of VCS wiring/sensors and hoping that this will correct the issue.

IS 250 2.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,256 miles

While on freeway during acceleration, the car's check engine and VSC lights come on from a misfire and the vehicle loses all power causing it to nearly shut off. This has happened several times..

Vehicle has been taken to South County Lexus in Mission Viejo twice for this, the last time time the lights were still present when left for service.

Service manager said on both occasions that attempts to reproduce and send results to Lexus did not warrant any work, although they were able to recreate the misfire in the shop. Service manager recommended fuel injection and decarb throttle body service at my expense, which I allowed as Lexus corporate says issue is not related to quality of vehicle.

Update from Oct 6, 2014: Vehicle taken in To South County Lecxu
