RX 450H FSport V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

I am beginning to wonder if I bought a Lexus lemon. Although my 2019 RX 450h only has 25,000 miles on it now, I have had the front struts replaced. It sounds like the back ones may go soon. The BRAKE light kept coming on since about last May or June 2023, but the light would go off so I thought it was just a glitch. That light started coming on a little more frequently and the brakes began squawking, although the light turned off again. I got a letter from Lexus saying they were proactively taking care of a problem with the brake assembly causing the BRAKE light to turn on. I thought maybe this was the cause of the problem and took my car in. Lexus is saying it is the brake actuator that must be fixed/replaced, but they will not cover it because time-wise my car was 4 months out of warranty. Seriously?

This is a huge safety problem. I am disappointed that Lexus apparently does not stand behind its product. Given the problems with this Lexus, I cannot in good conscience recommend buying a Lexus to anyone. I am truly regretting this decision. I will report this safety issue to NTSB, and contemplate taking this to small claims court in the meantime. I tried calling Lexus Corporate, but got nowhere. I did ask that the case be referred to their legal department, but have received no response. It's been about 2 months.

RX 450H RX V6

Have seen others complaining about this problem. Took it to local dealership and they said they have seen similar problems. Have also seen other Lexus models with failed actuators. Car is out of warranty, so dealership won't pay to fix. They told me when the malfunction light come on to bring it in immediately because brakes could fail. Part plus labor - $3800.00
