I bought this car late summer from a good friend. It had low mileage when I bought it - 24,000. I didn't notice the pulling at first as I wasn't driving it much. As time went on, it got much worse. In addition to the pulling to the left, I noticed what seemed to be extreme instability in the steering, and actually the whole front end seemed iffy. I took it to my mechanic and after an alignment, it was still doing it. They checked the tires and the brakes and found nothing wrong. I took it to a local Lincoln dealer (nightmare place) and was told it was out of alignment.

I had said I wanted them to do nothing without my approval and they assured me that was standard. However, they ended up doing an alignment without my knowledge and then played the guilt trip, "Don't worry, we will pay for that". OMG. They said they drove it and it wasn't pulling to the right any more. I told them that it never did pull to the right. I left and it was still doing it. I called the next morning and talked to the witch in the service department that I had dealt with. I told her I would bring the car in and she needed to drive it. That happened and she said, oh, now I see what you mean. She told me that it was 110% the left front caliper, and that it would run somewhere over $600 and that if I ever came into that money to call and they would fix it. These people are so rude.

I left and then contacted Lincoln Corp. I spoke to a lady who has been very nice and helpful. She had me take it to another dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong with it either. When I was speaking to the girl in service and mentioned that nobody has been able to figure it out, she told me that it could be the way I drive. Where do they find these people? The lady at Lincoln had the technicians and engineers there working on a solution. I was to take it back to the first dealer which I did. Those people worked with the corp people and came up with the newest one - the steering gear is bad. What would cause that? To me, it has to have been 'born' with it. It sure seems to me that it's a manufacturer defect. So frustrating.
