My 2009 Mkx has scared the heck out of us as we thought a bomb had gone off, followed by the high-pitched whine which only stopped after we turned the car off and open a door for it to reset itself. We were driving with kids in the back asleep, , and all of a sudden it went off and we couldn't stand it. Turning the radio off didn't help, turning the ac off didn't help either. We were forced to pulled over in the middle of the night. Since then I can not trust my car won't go off and cause me to hit another car or god forbid something else. It usually happens in the hotter months for the last 3 - 4 years. I've tried to find correlation to something, and all I can think off is the heat causing it to go off.

Wires to headlights brittle and/or broken. This vehicle has headlights that move the direction steering wheel is turned and also self adjust height up and down as vehicle is traveling. The almost constant movement of headlamp is causing wires to become brittle and break causing headlight failure. Not only is this unsafe, but it appears that some repair shops are saying the fuse box needs to be replaced and reprogrammed to repair symptom. Some people may just think a headlamp is burned out and after replacing bulb, light still won't work. Those who continue to drive risk loosing other headlight at same time. There is no warning indicator in car to notify driver there is a headlamp out so a person could easily be driving with one light and not even notice. Upon searching internet I noticed other late model Ford products with same problem. On my car the insulation was still in tact so it was not easily noticed, but yes the wire was physically broken inside wire insulation. My car has never been in a car accident, nor has it been worked on by anyone other than Lincoln dealership or myself. There is a cap that has to be removed from headlight housing before one could access this sealed off area.

Frequency: Once every other day when temperature over 73 F. electrical: (issue 1) the sound system while in use creates a horrendous sound/bang that sounds like an accident. This causes a loss of driver attention and distraction from traffic. (issue 2) after loud sound, the stereo will lock it self and not allowing to shut it down or anything. (issue 3) after loud sound, the turn signal will flash in a faster paced than normal. (issue 4) after loud sound, air conditioner would not work. All this issues would resolve by turning car off and opening the driver door to reset itself. This is a big safety issue, with sleeping kids in the back when loud sound gets trigger and have to stop in the middle of highway to "reset the system".

2009 Lincoln Mkx vehicle has driver power seat that is unstable and rocks while driving. This causes an unsafe driving condition that makes the foot fall off the brake pedal when braking. Dealer says this is normal. Another defect is the sound system while in use creates a horrendous sound/bang that sounds like an accident. This causes a loss of driver attention and distraction from traffic. Dealer says this is a defect with no fix.
