The lifters in this engine, are sometimes loud. It does not do it all the time. I have not had the car long, but actually I am afraid to drive it. The Haynes manual says that if the lifters in the car rattle, it is due to a defect in the oil pump, that allows air in the system and displaces the oil. I have had 3 mechanics look at it, one said the lifters are bad, one said the cams, and / oil pump. The other said try JB engine treatment in it, and it that does not help, I have a problem. It seems to me if it was the cam or lifters it would do it all the time, it doe not. They all told me it would be a "big Job" to fix it., Any ideas out there? would Synthetic oil help? Thank you
