CX-5 GX 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 100,000 miles

So when the car is just started and not moving, if there is resistance on the transmission or axles, there is an annoying whining noise accompanied with vibrations. Axels were replaced so all signs point to transmission starting to fail. Transmission oil was checked, about 1/3rd of it seemed to be missing. Can't get rid of the noise and vibrations. The noise is very clear when going uphill from a 0 start.

The noise is in every gear but only from a stop and depends how much you push the car. More acceleration, more noise. Reminds me of a power steering noise, but it's when you go straight. The vibrations also start again at 100km/h along with the whining noise. The whine goes away after 100km/h but vibrations start and continue (might be something else at that point). Wheels are balanced and ball joints were replaced.
