I have a Mazda 14 and have had numerous problems with my windshield breaking or cracking to the point that I replaced it at my cost of $500.00. I also have had numerous windshield chips repaired. Now for the last 7 months I have had my Smart City Support Breaks, SCBS alert continuously come on. I have talked to the Mazda dealer along with Abe's windshield provider that I referred to by the Mazda dealer in Toledo, Ohio. Nobody seems to know what to do with this alert coming on or how to repair the system. HELP?????

This is the 4th time I've had to replace my windshield. The 1st time was only 6 months after having the car. I spoke to Mazda about a possible flaw with the windshield since I've seen other CX5's with a crack in the same area and was told they've have no other complaints. 8 months after getting the windshield replaced a rock hit the windshield and before I had a chance to get the crack filled it spread and had to have it replaced AGAIN. The 3rd windshield was from a bird hitting the windshield and cracked the whole right side. Now I need it replaced again from a rock that hit the windshield and spread just as fast. I can't afford to keep replacing my windshield every year. Depending on where you go the cost is from 300.00-500.00 EACH TIME! Someone really needs to look into problems with the windshields on the CX5.

We purchased TWO MAZDAs in 2013. A 2013 M3 Hatchback and a 2014 CX5. THE WINDSHIELD MYSTERIOUSLY CRACKED ON BOTH CARS in the past year. We took them to the dealer in Cerritos (Browning Mazda). They acted as if they had never heard of this issue and said we needed to pay for the replacement. There is obviously a defect in these windshields. We are considering contacting a firm for a class action suit.

CX-5 Don't Know V6

The first crack happened in my windshield about 2 years after getting the car. I heard the pebble hit the glass as I was driving down the highway. It created a tiny nick in window, minuscule, almost imperceptible. An hour later after pulling over, the tiny nick had spidered out into a long snaking crack, about 1.5 ft long. It was in the windshield area, so it was not blocking my view, and I did not fix it immediately. About one month later, suddenly out of nowhere another long snaking crack appeared in another area of the windshield, far from the first crack. I never saw a rock hit, nor could I see a nick, so I took the car to my Mazda Service Center assuming, with this much cracked glass, I must have a defective windshield. Mazda refused to fix it and said they have not heard of any problems with the windshields on the CX5, which is of course hogwash. After reading the other complaints about Mazda CX5 windshields I do not want to replace the windshield with the same Mazda brand. I think it will just crack again. Mazda said I better not use any other brand of windshield, as some after market glass does not have sensor brackets, which is important to make sure the Smart City Support Breaks, SCBS, can be calibrated. Not sure what to do.

Our windshield cracked for no reason from the bottom up. Looking at the forums it has happened to a lot of people. I think Mazda should take a look at how the windshields are assembled and fix the problem besides the ones that happened already. Without an aftermarket replacement it's very expensive and I don't think I should have to replace a new windshield that wasn't installed properly.

4th windshield in less than 2 years - I've been driving the same roads for 20 years and never had this problem. The only difference is that I've never driven a Mazda. The CX-5 boasts the best gas mileage of any AWD SUV - obviously changes were made it the windshield to get this. Not worth it - I'd rather spend the extra money on gas. The windshield chips and cracks way too easily. I am ready to go back to a different SUV - don't have any more time or money to spend on broken windshields.

I want to report that I have issues with my CX-5 and I believe there is a design flaw.

In my first week of purchasing the vehicle, March; the windshield cracked (18"+) from a rock chip. It was then replaced and nearly two months ago, Thanksgiving time, another rock chip caused the windshield to crack (18"+) so it was then replaced. Then recently this past Friday, a rock chip also caused the windshield to crack (14"+).

This car is not even 1 year old & the windshield cracked 3 times. I believe there is a design flaw with the windshield, or the process for making the windshields is not correct. There are cars on the road for over 10 years old which get rock chips and do not crack. There is a problem here.
