I received a recall notice for ball joints however no parts were available at the time to correct the problem. Waited over a year and the ball joint let go so I was unable to drive my Mazda. I took it to the repair shop and had it fixed. 3 months later I received a notice from Mazda that the parts were in. I called Mazda 3 times asking for a reimbursement as I had to pay out of my own pocket for a recall that they were unable to fix. I have not received any calls back. I would like to be compensated for my out of pocket costs to repair the ball joints.

Severe clunking noise from front driver wheel when driving on most roads. Noise is believed to be related to the failing ball joint. Manufacturer has an open recall 9716H / NHTSA recall number 16V-593. Despite the recall notice being issues on August 10, 2016 (18 months ago), the status is "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available" according to the dealer. Front suspension ball joint fitting. Water may enter the front suspension ball joint fitting. Driving on roadways during the winter months in areas that use roadway salts can lead to salt and water intrusion into the ball joint causing corrosion. As a result the ball joint loosens and a rattle may occur. Extended operation in this condition will deteriorate the ball joint and the lower control arm could separate. Significant loss of steering control may increase the chance of a fatal crash. At this time we are experiencing a small rattle in the front.

Front suspension ball joint fitting: Upon either receiving or learning of the safety recall notice last year, my wife and I contacted our local Mazda dealer, ferman Mazda of brandon 9809 E adamo drive tampa, fl 33619, last year. She was told that parts were not currently available for our vehicle and that they started repairs in the northeast, before winter arrived, and we would be contacted summer (2018). The summer has come and is on its way out and we still have not been contacted. My wife called our Mazda dealership on Monday 18 September 2018, she was told she needed to bring in the notice, assuming from Mazda, regarding the recall notice. My question is: Do one need the actual notice or can one use the NHTSA recall notice to carry out the recall.
