Returned to vehicle after work (5pm) and saw that both side mirrors were damaged. A closer look revealed that the painted portion to both side mirror housing units had melted. It appeared the plastic had melted from internal heat. There were no burn marks on the outer portion of the unit. The plastic had shrunk to a shriveled and wrinkled appearance. Brought the vehicle to a Mazda dealer (escondido, California). The vehicle was inspected and nothing was found to be wrong. I was told there was no electrical problem and the melted side mirror units were melted from the sun. I do not live in Arizona, New Mexico, or southern Nevada where temperatures reach above 105 degrees consistently. Temperatures typically reach 80-95 degrees.
