I just purchased my vehicle about 3 months ago. I was running errands about a week after purchase and was heading home on the highway when the gas notification came on displaying 27 miles left and advised me to get gas. I was about half mile from the exit and the vehicle check engine light came on and it started stalling. Thank fully I was able to get over to the median just in time when it shut down completely. I called roadside and the dealer and explained what happened. I had it towed back to the dealer and they advised me it was because I ran out of gas. I explained it had a quarter of a tank and displayed 27 miles left and it didn't even give me 1 mile to get off the exit. It happened to my husband as well recently and I spoke to a certified Mazda dealer and they explained it could be that the gas tank has a dent causing the reading to be off or one of two floats could be damaged and not reading correctly. I was advised this was a common issue with my year but it's not on a recall. I usually get gas when it hits a quarter of a tank but now I'm afraid that I do it at a half a tank. This should be a recall problem as it causes the car to stall immediately which is dangerous. I had kids in my vehicle in an ice storm...I need to have this fixed but it's well over $800.

Fails to accelerate and change gears. This has been happening since we purchased the vehicle. It has been back to the dealership multiple time and has not been resolved. They are unable to find anything wrong. The engine is a 2.5 L turbo. This happens unexpectedly while driving making it hard to get on to the highway or change lanes.

Vehicle makes a cranking noise when steering at a slow speed meaning when turning, reversing or slowly going over speed bumps it makes a cranking noise its coming from the front of vehicle I don't know if that normal has been like that since I bought the vehicle, it was taken in due to a recent recall couple months ago for the rear same issues with a cranking noise, now it's the front.

When driving at 35-50 mph, my 2016 Mazda Cx-9 periodically brakes suddenly while driving to a scrubbing forceful stop tossing things off the back seat, placing me in danger of a rear-end collision. Sometimes a very quick beeping sound is made, "B-R-A-K-E" appears on the panel in large letters --- then the car automatically comes to a sudden stop or it occurs with no notice. I have taken it to the dealer 3 or 4 times only to be told that they could find nothing wrong. No objects of vehicles were immediately in front of me and the sensor was clean when this has occurred.this sudden stopping has occurred on the freeway, in rush hour traffic and on city streets. This has occurred at least 6 times since purchased 03/17/17. I am fearful that this problem will result in injury or death to me and others.

The push button on/off switch does not protect against turning the vehicle off if transmission is accidentally left in any position other than 'P'. for example its possible to put the transmission in 'R' and turn the vehicle off. For a busy parent (target demographic of this vehicle), this is very dangerous. If on an incline, the vehicle will start rolling forward or backward (depending on incline/slope and R/D transmission position). There should be a safeguard or a beep/warn system to protect the driver/occupants this happened to me on an inclined driveway when I accidentally left transmission in 'R' and turned vehicle off. I took foot off the break and got out and realized vehicle was rolling backwards.
