MAZDA3 Coup 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 129,000 miles

While going down a surface street at 40 mph, I ran over a pot hole in street with the left front tire after which I pressed the brake pedal to slow down and the brake pedal went to the floor. I stepped on the brake pedal as hard as I could, and the car slowly came to a gradual stop but was all the way to the floor. I have bled the brakes the correct sequence 3 times now and replaced the master cylinder, but still in order to stop I have to press the brake pedal almost to the floor. Pumping the brake pedal does not help. Is the problem the ABS module/pump or wheel speed sensor or what? Please help!

MAZDA3 I 2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

I just bought my daughter a 2010 that has a spongy brake problem I've read a lot about online. The pedal gives very little resistance (and there is virtually no braking) for the first 1-2" of travel, then it works and brakes normally. I tried trying to activate the ABS many times as some mentioned had "fixed" the problem for them but that made no difference. Not only did it not fix it, but I found that the ABS doesn't work since at least 1 tire locked up and was skidding. So spongy brakes, no ABS, and no ABS warning light.
