problem #1

May 012019

MAZDA6 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,161 miles

My alarm goes off all day and night on my 2010 Mazda 6. When driving down the road the interior lights will come on (which scares the life out of you when it's dark) and the dash light will show that there is a door open when there isn't. I have replaced the battery in the key fobs, changed the radio from bluetooth back to radio before I turn the car off. Leave the windows open a bit if it is hot outside and as a last resort...I leave the car unlocked when I leave it, which makes me very unhappy. I have called the dealership and they want to charge me $130 for a diagnostic to see if they can figure out what the problem is. Searching the internet tells me that I am not the only person with this car that has this problem. So, my thought is that the dealership should know what the problem is and how to fix it. They have already fixed the recall for the door latches and that did not fix the problem. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would gladly like to hear them. If you have had this problem and were able to fix it, please share the fix.

Thank you, DAC

Update from Oct 14, 2019: I have tried spraying WD-40 on the door latches and that helps for a day or two and then the alarm starts going off again. I guess I will need to take it to the dealership and fork over the money to have the diagnostics run to see what the issue is. Grrrrr.

Update from Dec 1, 2019: Just an update......I no longer have this car. On November 18, 2019 I had a medium size deer (buck) decide he wanted to have the car more than me, so he slammed his body into the front end of the car and total it. Needless to say the alarm will no longer be sounding. Challenge is gone. Good luck to all who are having the issue. I wish you all the best of luck.
