MAZDA6 GS 2.5L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,322 miles

Serpentine belt getting grooved by the tensioner and therefore needed replacement of both belt and tensioner at only 118k. Not sure yet of the specific cost (guessing around several hundred min.) as unfortunately there are other repairs such as control arms and timing cover (leaking oil from chain) that are also getting replaced as well as some other regular maintenance type of jobs.

It's gonna be a hefty bill in total (Approx. $2500). After all the headaches in the past few years I do still like this car. It's extremely fuel efficient, very functional, and it's damn good looking! Was looking forward to seeing it age gracefully over the years as we tend to run our vehicles to the ground.

However, I'm not feeling so confident anymore. A word of advice - NEVER buy a vehicle in it's redesign year as that year usually has the most issues.
