I recently noticed the smell of gas on this vehicle or of gas coming from my rear seat. I took it to a mechanic shop and he stated that the gas tank had a leak on top somewhere. He stated that this is a pretty common problem in these Mercedes. My kids travel vehicle travel with. They end up with really bad headaches. I have read other posts that have the similar problem that I'm having. I think this is a very serious problem people could end up getting hurt. Some could get seriously hurt. I will copy this message.

Began to smell a strong odor of fuel evaporation from vehicle, both while driving and also while parked. Confirmed to be some type of fuel leak at or near the top of the fuel tank. We were advised that this is a known and common problem with this make of vehicle and that the costs associated with the repair will be substantial.
