This cam shaft issue is obviously a pandemic one for the C250. see communication below to MB Customer service. Bottom line, the don't give a damn about it.

UNBELIEVABLE MB NIGHTMARE!!

I am writing again regarding our 2013 C250 that has been at Mercedes South in Charlotte NC since before Jan. 1, 2024 and the NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE we are now dealing with on a car with less than 88k miles on it.

We did not invest in a Mercedes Benz to buy the car twice with all the ridiculous repairs now needed to get it back on the road.

At this time we have incurred over $500 in tow fees, plus repair bills for $1844.74 for a bad SAM unit, plus $1236.17 for the cam inspection and now a WHOPPING $13,316.18 for a new engine, all resulting from bad engineering, poor quality parts, uncommunicated recalls and extended warranty issues for which we never received. So, at this point we are looking at $16,897.09 in expenses for what Aileen "the owner) is now calling the "BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP CAR" ever built and a sad reputation for Mercedes Benz.

Please consider: With all of the recalls and extended warranty issues for cam shaft issues, fuel pump issues and more that were never sent to us, we find this totally unacceptable from Mercedes Benz. People don't buy a MB to only get 88k miles out of it before it blows up. Please review the attached quotes and information and let me know what MB can do to cover the costs we are now facing.

C250 Sport 1.8L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

2013 C250 with only 73k miles should not have this type of issue already, especially such an expensive car. Took it into Mercedes Benz of Sacramento and was told the cost of repair would be $5900 to replace the intake and exhaust camshaft adjusters. This is a well known issue with this engine, so why is nothing being recalled yet? I contacted Mercedes USA and they stated since this is my first Mercedes and I perform my own oil changes (early every time and using Mobile 10W40 European Blend) and repairs, they refused to assist me. So they are telling me, since I don't pay over $160 every 3 months or 3k miles for oil, and cheaper oil at that, they can't help me! That is absurd. This needs to be RECALLED and MB needs to take care of their customers, whether they are long time customers or first time.

C250 Sport 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,200 miles

My 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 had the Crankshaft Adjusters failure at 56,200 miles. Mercedes-Benz dealer quoted $3,000 to have it fixed. Recently Mercedes Benz USA sent me the Warranty Extension information on 11/10/2020 for all following models: C250 (make year 2012 - 2014), C250 Coupe (make year 2012 - 2015), SLK250 (make year 2012 - 2015) because they knew this is the common problem.

This Warranty Extension only for the Crankshaft Adjuster issue, it will cover to a total of 10 years / 120,000 miles (whichever comes first). If you have the Crankshaft Adjusters repaired out of your pocket before this time, Mercedes-Benz USA will reimburse limited to the amount the repair would have cost if completed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Any question, you can contact them at 1-800-367-6372

C250

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,021 miles

My 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 only has 40,000 miles on it. It started driving really rough, almost felt like a rod knocking, when turning my car on it had an extended crank, almost sounded like a diesel. While this was happening my entire car would shake. My check engine light came on and it was driving really rough, I took it to the closest mechanic that specializes on Mercedes. After diagnostic, they came to the conclusion that both cam shaft adjusters were faulty and will need to be replaced. I was quoted $3,300. After researching online I found that the dealership would charge anywhere from $4500 to $7,000 for the same service. Also during my research I found that there were class action lawsuits filed against Mercedes for this exact issue but there isn't one for my model/year of car. No recall either, which doesn't make any sense. I decided to call Mercedes-Benz USA to explain my situation and to see if they could help me out in any way. The customer service rep was SOOO rude he actually hung up on me. He said since I didn't take it to a dealer to begin with there was nothing Mercedes would do. Why won't Mercedes stand behind their product at 40,000 miles? I'm fine paying a portion of the bill to get this fixed but feel like Mercedes needs to step up. I've requested the faulty parts from the mechanic and would be more than willing to share those with Mercedes so they can look into it as well. I sent Mercedes a message on Facebook explaining my situation, hoping to get a better answer. I'll update this once I get a response. I feel robbed my Mercedes and won't purchase another unless they make this right!
