While taking my kids to school, my headrest suddenly deployed. It startled me so much that I nearly swerved into another car. I felt like I was punched in the back of the head. I took it to the Mercedes dealership and was told that even going over rail road tracks will cause the neck restraints to deploy. This did not make sense as I was driving on a smooth road, at over 50 mph, and only the driver side headrest popped out. They just told me I would have to replace it.

It looks like the plastic pieces that hold headrest together have broken. Why are they plastic? I think the plastic had degraded over time. I feel that Mercedes should take responsibility with this issue.
