Grand Marquis LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

This issue arose in August 2017 and to be sure the vehicle was safe, I paid the local Ford dealer what I thought was way too much to repair/replace the seat belt. Now the same issue has occurred again, so I figured there must be a recall for same issue to occur again so quickly, but I was wrong!! It is going to cost me another $700 to $800 to get this "fixed" again. Very disappointing and makes me very angry. I plan to contact Mercury, but I doubt if I will get any satisfaction. This is my 2nd Mercury, but after this it will be MY LAST MERCURY product!!

Grand Marquis LX 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

As reported by 30 other people on carcomplaints.com, I have experienced the following problem over and over: The trouble light on the dash board of my Mercury Marquis comes on to indicate there is air bag trouble. The light flashes and a chime rings. This noise will not stop until I shut the car off. The noise disappears and may not come back for another week - but it does come back.

Grand Marquis GS 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,501 miles

I checked this website and found numerous other Mercury Marquis owners with the same problem and no response from FOMOCO even though it is a documented safety issue. Other owners site diagnostic test at the dealer with repair costs at $800 plus. Sometimes after repairs the issue happens again and the only repair is to replace the unit AGAIN. I have also noted reports of Motor Vehicle Accidents with this vehicle where the Airbag did not deploy resulting in injuries.

I have been a big Ford/Mercury fan and also own a 2010 F150. Can't afford the cost of repairs (which may not be effective for long) and apparently I will have no restraint system if I am involved in a MVA. This sucks! Safety issue, no assistance from the manufacturer, customers left in danger with no option other than praying we aren't involved in an accident....the government isn't any help either. Now I guess I'll have to find someone who isn't bothered buying a vehicle with an airbag issue.

Good luck to me....

Grand Marquis LS Prem 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,233 miles

2006 Mercury Grand marquis: Other morning, started car and the airbag restraint system light on the dashboard came on, then stayed on. The chime goes off in intervals of 5 bells x3 every so often. Dealer diagnostic stated the passenger seat belt pretensioner is open. The same dealership replaced front bumper from an accident that occurred almost 2 years ago. Dealer stated this problem does not just happen, that it can only happen in an accident. They were not sure why it took almost 2 years for the warning system to activate?

Since the other party's insurance paid for the accident repair,I contacted Nat Gen Insurance. They referred me to this website, which proves this airbag restraint system light problem is a MAJOR ISSUE occurring randomly with the Mercury Grand Marquis.

I've also been told airbags will not deploy until the passenger seat belt is replaced.

FORD, This is a major safety issue..... where is the RECALL???
