2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. Consumer states defect with computer/power train control module the consumer stated when his wife attempted to apply the brake on two separate occasions, the vehicle failed to reduce its speed. Consequently, his wife went through the red light. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. The dealer asked the consumer did the vehicle have adjustable pedals and when the consumer stated it did, the dealer suggested that maybe his wife put her foot on both pedals simultaneously. The consumer also stated there was message on the instrument panel in french. When he looked at the owners manual, it meant change oil. The consumer believed the message in french, instead of english effected the computer system. The consumer stated the incident has since happened for a third time. When the consumers wife pulled into a parking spot, she put the gear in park and turned off the ignition. However, the vehicle continued to move even though the vehicle was in park and when she stepped on the brake the vehicle did not stop. She immediately engaged the emergency brake and the vehicle stopped. She tried to restart the vehicle, but it would not start. The consumer stated when he arrived to his wife's destination, the vehicle would not start when it was in park. However, all of the lights and the dashboard lights worked. When the key was in the on position, he could freely move the gear shift indicator between gears, but there was no feel that the gear indicator was in any gear. Updated 06/14/11
