Mariner 3.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,500 miles

Driving down interstate 77 70 miles an hr, all of a sudden oil light came on, engine stalled. Engine would not restart. Called AAA got towed 100 miles home.

I am a tech by trade, the engine once started hammering at the lower end. Pulled oil pan, rod bearings spun and main bearings . Oil was full there was no rhyme or reason for this type of mechanical problem to happen other than a poor engine design. I have owned Ford's for many years, even worked for Ford dealership for some years, I am very upset this type of damage happened all of a sudden with no warning. By the way, the vehicle has 84,500 miles on it.

Mariner EX V6

  • Automatic transmission

was going down highway 17 in Middletown ny was doing at least 60 and all of a sudden i felt like the wind was keeping me from going i had to press the gas down to the floor but was getting no where. notice my speed was dropping put flasher on and came up to the next exit and got off pulled to the side then the engine light came on ,turned car off to check under the hood.everything was just fine. there was a gas station down the road in sight started the car up it would not move. called triple a had the car towed to the nearest dealership .the performed diagnostic circuit check the codes p2195-p2197,p0300 p0306. followed pin point test faulty idle air control valve #6 spark plug and ignition coil intake gaskets leaking, everything was removed and replaced.i feel there should of been a warning of some kind someone could of ran into me on the highway the way the speed just dropped, thank god i was in the car with someone who knows cars. i could of caused a accident on a major highway. yes the car has problems with loud noises and brakes and tires. i don't think i will buy another one but i have to deal with it for now.
