The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Mariner. After driving and parking the vehicle, the contact could not remove the key from the ignition. The contact had to turn the steering wheel and maneuver the key in order to get it to release. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times and was gradually getting worse. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,500.

The engine shut down while on the highway and a light appeared on the dash saying "stop safely now". I stopped, turned off the engine, and turned it back on. I took it to a an authorized Ford repair shop and they said they weren't sure what the problem was. I didn't have another problem for 9 months and then the same thing happened. Again no problem for about 2 months and then it happened again repeatedly. After pulling over and restarting the same problem would reoccur about every 15 miles. I made it to a Ford dealership. They are now replacing the coolant pump. I did some reading on-line and this appears to be a common problem with escape and Mariner hybrids. Shouldn't there be a recall of the faulty pump?

2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid no crank. Vehicle was found to have damaged high voltage wiring harness. Harness runs along underneath the passenger side of the vehicle cabin. Harness is partially encased pvc. Pvc was damaged possibly due to road hazard hitting underneath the vehicle. High voltage harness was damaged resulting in entire harness being replaced. Ford would not pay for repair. This is a serious issue and possibly a design flaw. I still have the harness in my possession and would be willing to provide it for purpose of investigation.
