Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that a bump was on the dashboard over the location of the passenger side air bag. The air bags and the wiring were not exposed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to morrie's minnetonka Ford (13400 wayzata blvd, minnetonka, mn 55305, (952) 546-5441), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact was informed by a service technician that the dashboard repair would cost approximately $3,000. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V024000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer stated that parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
