My 2008 Milan only has 79,000 mile and when you go to stop a light or just stop the pedal goes all the way to the floor. Took it to my mechanic he installed a new master cylinder thinking that would fix it but it did not!!! This is a very dangerous problem.

Driving along today and came to a red light. Had to stop and suddenly the brake didn't work like it normally did. Had to step on the pedal ALLLL the way to the floor to stop. Almost hit the car ahead of me. Braking was the same for the next 4 miles til I got home. Had to step on the pedal all the way to the ground to stop. The low brake fluid light came on the dash. After parking the car I checked out the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. Filled it up with Dot 3 fluid and came back about 10 minutes later and there was a puddle under where the brake actuator is. My mechanic is going to check it out tomorrow to diagnose it properly. Will update.

Milan 2.3L

Brake pedal is soft all of the time. Road and weather conditions do not have any effect on the braking. The brake pedal always goes to the floor. I had new pads put on and the brake system was bled. I do not believe the ABS system was bled. When the car is off, I have a tight brake pedal. When I start the car, the brake pedal goes to the floor. I can just barely slide my foot under the brake pedal and the floor board. This happens all of the time.

Soft pedal is hard to stop. No faults. Pumping the pedal helps a little. car will stop but need to push pedal all the way to floor. Not driving the car until Ford dealer looks at car.

Update from Feb 1, 2017: Ford Dealer checked out and discovered that the ABS system had a complete failure. Master cylinder OK. The ABS computer failed and HCU was bad. Took 3 days to get the parts and repair. Parts only available from Ford. Problem was fixed. Was expensive, $1800, but I am glad I took to Ford since it is a rare and tricky thing to diagnose and correct.

After hard braking due to car pulling out in front of me, brake pedal went to the floor, but stopped. Second time this issue occurred. Brakes came back after the first, in minutes - not this time. Quite a bit of pedal travel, but the car would stop. Not an issue with pads, low fluid, leaks or Master Cylinder. 2 days at the local Ford dealership resolved the problem, at a cost of $2200 = Hydraulic Control Unit, and ECU, as well as bleeding the entire system. There are currently 19 similar complaints on this website alone, as well as numerous elsewhere - but no recall.

This has happened to me 3 times this summer. I cannot believe there has not been a recall.
