faulty ignition coil
While accelerating from a stop light, engine lost most of its power and warning lights came on. I was only 5 minutes from home and car was able to run (just with reduced power) so I drove home and looked up the warning symbol, which recommended taking into dealer for service. Called Mini Roadside service and car was towed to our Mini dealer. Issue turned out to be a blown ignition coil. Mini replaced coil and all plugs. Car was at 49,775 miles and still under warranty so no cost. When I asked my service rep what it would've cost she said up to $500. This is the first real problem I've had with this car.
