The contact owns a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero. The contact stated that the ABS light remains illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new ABS system. The idle control valve, oxygen sensor, and the electrical switch for the transmission were all replaced. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage is 62,000 and failure mileage was 51,000.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero with 43,000 miles and the ABS control module all of a sudden went out. There was no problem. Just backed up on January 1, 2006, and noticed the light was on. I looked in the owner's manual about the problem and did what it said. But the light remained on. I took it took a local tire and brake company, but they couldn't get the light to go off. Then, took it to a dealership, and they told me the ABS control module had gone out. The cost of this part was $900. The service manager at the dealership told me to contact Mitsubishi because he has never seen this problem happen before. I did, and they told me that there was nothing they could do since the 36,000 mile warranty expired. I think this sucks because it is apparent that this part must have been defective since it was one that no one could tell me that they had complaints about it. I will tell you one thing this is the only Mitsubishi product I will ever own.
