The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that the lift gate opened, beeped and fell with force. After a while, the tailgate failed to open without using force. The vehicle was taken to fuccillo Mitsubishi located at 18822 us-11, watertown, NY 13601, and the contact was informed that there was no recall subjected to the VIN. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16V867000 (structure) and stated that the failure was exactly what the recall addressed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
