370Z Coupe V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

My 2009 370Z has only 58,000 miles on it and is in perfect condition. It is garaged always and never goes out in bad weather. I have the oil changed regularly. Recently the check engine light came in, so I brought it to my local Nissan dealership where it is always serviced, and they took a look at it. They informed me that it needs a rear timing cover replaced at a cost of $3,500. I am blown away by that.

They advised me to call Nissan corporation to see if they would pay for a portion of it. Nissan refused because it's an 11 year old car. I am so upset about this. The car is 11 years old, but it only has 58,000 miles on it. I don't understand how this happened. Is it worth spending that much money though on an 11 year old car?? Please advise. Is this a common issue with this year car & model???
