problem #3

Altima SE-R 3.5L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 120,000 miles

This is a common problem in all of these motors. Nissan has used crappy materials in the timing chain guides that break and cause the chain to become loose and eventually fail, catostrophically.

problem #2

Altima LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

When I found out that the timing chain tensioner replacement is a problem known to Nissan, I called the dealer service center and gave them an opportunity to make it right. They said they couldn't help. It is a very expensive fix!

Altima 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,000 miles

My wife car 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5 with less 83000 miles is black and the paint is coming off the hood and top. Car has been garage keep and service by Nissan dealer. Engine has a whining noise coming from engine. Have taking the serpentine belts off still make noise. But new set Michelin tires on end of 7-1-2013 and now have roaring noise came from back end now. The car was to be last car before retirement. I am very disappointed in the Nissan Altima 3.5 car. I would not buy other Nissan .
