Altima

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

In 2012, Nissan found an oil leak upon routine oil change. Had it fixed. In 2013, the car started to run hot. Immediately got off road, had it towed to Nissan. Found oil leak. Had gasket replaced. Two weeks later the transmission failed and coils had to be replaced. The temperature gauge malfunctioned and had to have that replaced. Three months later, the car caught on fire while riding down road. Got it put out. Looked at oil and there was NO oil. No temperature light or engine light had come on. Apparently there was a leak AGAIN after getting it repaired three months earlier. Engine locked up and needs new engine!!!!

Altima S 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,000 miles

Well let me start by saying i haven't had the car a year before this issue started month ago. We have went to mechanic to get the solution however the oil continues to leaking after completing oil change. We were gold it was the filter, then oil coolant buying the gasket and ring, oil sensor switch. The mechanic says the engine oil coolant does not need gasket and ring, however it is the oil sensor switch ok we changed that part now the oil is leaking even more. I researched online people who own these cars are running into the same problem and nissan wont recall this issue. Now back to the mechanic today to find out if it is a valve cover gasket issue. Nissan please recall this issue with the oil leaking thank you.

Altima SE 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

2007 Nissan Altima 3.5L V6 needs to have head gaskets replaced after only 70000 miles? Out of warranty and a cost of $2500 to fix. What a joke!! This is the first Nissan I have ever bought out of 10 cars and will definitely be my last. When I bought the car new, I was told that the 3.5L V6 engine was basically grenade proof. I never hit a grenade, so what happened. Nissan North America will assist with absolutely nothing!

Altima LS V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 7,000 miles

Pretty annoying to buy a new car only to start smelling antifreeze. Took it in and the dealer replaced the head gasket due to a defect in the gasket.

About 6000 miles later, I'm smelling antifreeze again. Dealer said there's another gasket needing to be replaced. They said it should have been replaced before but Nissan Corp only allows very specific things to be done or not covered so dealer couldn't do it the first time.

Well about 8000 miles later, I'm smelling antifreeze again. Frankly, I don't think the smell ever really went away stands out more when in traffic or drive thru with the window down. Took it back in and dealer (new dealership due to move) said they didn't find anything wrong.

Well I'm close to my warranty being up and hoping this thing blows up beforehand since I know it is a ticking timebomb.

Dumb luck or piece or crap?
