Altima LE Qr25de

  • CVT transmission

It's known the solenoid for activating the Nissan Altima AC units has a tendency for failure. Our's eventually activates but it may take up to 30 minutes. Therefore, on some rides, we have no AC in the hot Texas weather.

I believe the issue with my vehicle is the compressor clutch has gone bad.

The compressor would cost between $80 to $300. A mechanic would want around $800 to $1000 to repair.

To fix it yourself you have to remove the passenger side wheel well then unscrew a bolt with an allen wrench, but be careful because the AC line is in the way and the bolt strips easily since it has Loctite on it.

I still haven't repaired mine, but these summer days are brutal without AC. I need to fix it ASAP because we have a child on the way and he can't be in the hot car without AC.

I bought it brand new, now only 5 years old. 2011 Altima Nissan less than 50, 000 miles; air conditioner stop working, told by dealership, the clutch on air conditioner compressor went bad, and that I needed new compressor. Dealership wanted $1000 for a "genuine part replacement" I said NO thanks...why would I want another "Genuine Nissan Compressor" this one went bad after less than 50,000 miles. I went to private mechanic he replaced with "aftermarket compressor" it cost $250. plus labor.

It worked initially, but when car sits out in hot sun, takes half hour of blowing hot air before cool air kicks in.

Still trying to troubleshoot that issue. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you.

I will never buy another Nissan, not ever, ever, ever..

Altima LS 4

A four year old car should not need a new a.c. system. This has never happened to me before, with other makes of cars. Definitely angry about having to shell out $1000!
