The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the hood opened unexpectedly. The contact steered to the side of the road where the passenger slammed the hood down to latch the hood securely. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the hood latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure caused damage to the fenders and the hood. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
