Armada

  • CVT transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I am sure you want me to tell you just about the issue, but you have to hear my back story. I bought the car in December of 2022. It ran great and had no issues until about April/May of 2023. I would go to the laundry mat, grocery store or out to dinner and would find myself stranded. I would need someone to come jump my car. At first I thought maybe I left something on or opened but after the 5th time I knew it wasn't me. Finally I got upset and took it to the place I bought the car. They said they was not sure and that my extended warranty would cover going to the Nissan dealership and explained that this happens too often to be something I did.

At the local dealership, they drained and recharged my battery and they said, "it's not throwing codes, so there is nothing they can do, if it happens again to have the car towed to them and they can see what the problem is". It happened a few times between then and now, but I can't just pay for a tow at the drop of a dime. My breaking point was I was taking my mother to her doctor which is down the road, and we got stuck. She is 70 and on oxygen. You know the heat wave is happening its 103 degrees and we are stuck! Her air concentrator gets too hot and stops working. I call my husband to come get us and I call Nissan dealership right after.

They say they now know how to fix it and my problem is I do not drive enough. Yep that is the actual problem. That the ECU is programmed not to connect to the alternator except certain time, so if I do not drive it the adequate number of miles it will just die. WTH? So anyway, they can fix it but because it is designed to do that it's not actually a defect, it's not covered by warranty, and can get me in ten days. So, in the meantime I bought a jump box 110.00 on Amazon and more gas$$$ so I can drive extra blocks for no reason. I took my car today (460.00) and they said they fixed it but can't guarantee anything. Hopefully this does resolve the issue. I have made my complaint with Nissan consumer affairs, and I recommend you do to.

Armada SL V8

  • Automatic transmission

We have had this 2019 Nissan Armada towed/jumped to the dealer at least 4 times in the last year and a half. They have put in 2 new batteries, all recalls has been updated and multiple diagnostic tests. Everything comes back GOOD! Just got the car back last week after being at the dealer for 2 weeks, and it's been in the garage and we have not driven it in 4 days, and it won't start AGAIN!

Dealer basically has exhausted all options and I even called Nissan Consumer Affairs (waiting for their response by end of day tomorrow)! Not sure what else we can do?!? Before we turn the car off, we turn the radio off, turn the auto lights off, turn the a/c off, and we make sure no lights are on. There is definitely something going on with these cars that's not getting picked up on the Nissan diagnostic testing. Something is draining the battery. Its sad that we have a 2 yo car that is the most unreliable car we have ever owned! It's still under the 3 year/36,000 mile Factory Warranty! Are any others experiencing this issue with Nissan???

Armada V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,764 miles

Fourth time for same issue. Vehicle wouldn't start. Acted as if battery was dead - clicking of starter when trying to start. Had it towed to Nissan a THIRD time. Awaiting their excuse for this ongoing issue.

Update from Mar 15, 2020: Picked up the vehicle and they said the issues with the ECM drained the battery so much it was not holding a charge. They replaced the battery. So now that is two batteries this year-old vehicle has had.

Third issue for same problem. Vehicle wouldn't start. Had it towed to Nissan where they once again stated it was a software issue and reprogrammed the ECM and charged the battery. Only lasted five days until it died again.

Vehicle would not start. Dash lights would come on, but pushing the start button had no effect. When we got it to the dealer, they said it was the brake sensor and replaced it. It seemed to fix the issue for a month then had starting issues again.
