Frontier 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. The contact thought he drove over an object at 60 mph. He immediately smelled gas and pulled over the vehicle. He noticed gas spilling from the middle driver side of the vehicle. The contact jumped back into the vehicle and drove off because he was at a gas station. Once far enough from the station, he turned off the engine, waited for the gas to stop leaking, restarted the vehicle, and drove home. The dealer did not make any repairs, but stated that the gas tank needed to be replaced. The failure was caused by an object that struck the aluminum cover and cracked the plastic gas tank. The current and failure mileages were 2,000. Updated 02/19/08. The consumer stated the gas tank was made of poor quality plastic material, with a very thin aluminum plate covering. The object that hit the gas tank was small because it marked a four-inch dent on the front side of the gas tank and the small piece of square that was in front of it. Updated
