Frontier SE 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

I just spent over $800 for a tune up and 100k routine maintenance. You think they might have mentioned that very few Frontier transmissions live beyond 105,000 miles. They could have spared me the expense. I took a 350 mile trip over labor day. When I got to my destination, I noticed my transmission began "clunking" when accelerating from 1000 to 2300 rpms on the tachometer. When I got back home, I checked the internet to realize my frontier had a genetic birth defect which would manifest itself right around 100k. Nissan can change names, merge, or do whatever it likes, but its failure to stand behind its consumers means I am no longer one of their consumers. That's life, I guess.

Frontier PRO-4X 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,753 miles

I just bought this used Frontier because the Tacoma was 4-5K more expensive and there was no way I could find a 2010 Xcab, TRD offroad, with only 51,900 miles... so I bought the frontier because I thought it'd be the closest comparable vehicle! well, fcuk me... that didn't work out. less than a 1,000 miles after I got the Frontier... catastrophic transmission problem (major vibrations). Look into it further... known MAJOR transmission issues. so guess who's the fool? Me, that's who. I bought a Nissan frontier pro-4x with 51,900 miles instead of a Toyota Tacoma with 90K miles. FAIL. Don't be an idiot like me. Spend the extra 5K and buy the Tacoma.
