Maxima GXE V6

Car runs fantastic, amazing performance. never lets me down.. all this ...accept for that DAMN sound!

Yes, that sound. The ticking sound, or the same sound of, if you take a laminated piece of paper, and stick it in a fan at home, it sounds almost identical, more so when you press on the accelerator.

I was told it was a rear exhaust manifold leak when I took it to get inspected. To get to this, he would need to take the car apart a little, wouldn't be a quick task. Just to get to the rear exhaust manifold gasket.

When I got the car back, it seemed like whatever he sealed with replacing a bolt and etc, it worked. It suppressed the sound almost completely, but then the next day it was there again.

The 100% almighty solution to fix it permanently with no chances of giving me BS would be replacing the head gaskets and cylinder heads I was told. Which is a $1000-1700 job. I got the car for $2000 so no thanks. Im just going to have to deal with the sound.., with the car still running like a champion.

For the record my Nissan Maxima (1993) has almost 241,000 miles on it, as of April 1st, 2010.
