problem #1

Mar 172014

Maxima SL 3.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 163,000 miles

Loss of power at 40mph. Brakes making a buzzing noise when applied. Press the gas, no acceleration. 40mph @ 6k RPM. Nissan wants 4k to fix possible speed sensor/ABS Module issues. No thanks. I take it to my mechanic. My mechanic first replaced the rear sensors $600. Problem not fixed. Then they replaced the rear sensors. Another $600. Problem not fixed. My mechanic tells me to take it to Nissan, which is the last thing I want to do.

I take it to mechanic #2. He tells me that the two rear hubs need replacing. Something about the speed of both rear wheels need to be within three mph's of each other. $1300 later and $2500 total, the car runs. I am listing on Craigslist as we speak. What a nightmare. This 2007 was my fourth and last Maxima.
