I was driving my vehicle and the engine stalled. Once it happened when I was driving at about 25mph and the vehicle just shut off and twice when I was at a red light while the vehicle was idling. Also I was driving in the hwy last week and the engine lst power for about 3 second, putting at a great risk for a crash. The other problem I am having is the passenger door actuator that stopped working so when I lock my car that won't lock putting my vehicle at a risk for being stolen. I called Nissan Corp because I knew that was a recall id # 78963 - engine and engine Nissan is recalling 362,891 my 2003-2007 Murano vehicles. The intake air ducts, which are connected to the intermediate resonator in the air intake system of the engine, may separate from the resonator with engine movement. This separation occurs due to the premature aging of the material used in the intake air ducts which causes excessive shrinking, and because of that engine may stall increasing the risk of a crash. However the representative said that there is nothing to worry about and my vehicle was not included in the recall even though it is the same model and year of the vehicle recalled.

The door lock on the driver side went out and shortly after the rest of the door locks in the vehicle began to fail. Because of this issue, I am currently at risk of theft if the door lock do not completely lock. I received an estimate of $1600 to fix the issue and I have heard that's by others are having the same problem.

First incident: While turning into a parking lot car shut off all warning lights on dash lit up. Since no power to car I was not able to turn or use my brakes effectively. I was stopped in the oncoming traffic lane. I was able to use my four way lights. Car had to be towed as we were unable to restart the car. Second incident: While driving on a city street at 35 miles an hour once again car turned off and I was unable to use gas or brakes related to no power. I barely was able to get about halfway into the turn lane to get out of traffic. Almost causing an accident. This te I was able to wait a few minutes and after a few unsuccessful attempts to start my car it finally began running again.

It was hot outside. I was on a major highway and all of a sudden I was unable to accelerate then the car lost power. I had to have my vehicle towed to a mechanic to find out my fuel pump fuse blew. Since then within a month time my car has lost power twice and abruptly stopped running on a major highway going about 55 mph. Putting myself and kids in a very dangerous situation. After sitting for about 20 minutes the first time and a hour the second time I pumped the gas pedal, turned the key and it started right up. I purchased my 2003 Murano only 4 months ago and never thought I would be here today scared to drive. Nissan needs to take these complaints much more seriously before someone lose their life behind this defect.

Please help! I have been having issues with this car ever since I bought it at this small dealer in arlington va. Saturday March 3, 2012, my Nissan Murano stalled. I am afraid the car will stall when I am driving on the highway and this could be a safety issues for me and other innocent people. This is not the first time it stalled. Today my driver side window is stuck and won't move up or down. Must be some electrical problem. I have contacted Nissan on issues with this car before and they refused to help me. Can someone point me in the right direction as to who I need to talk to and who can help me to get this resolved? I truly believe this car needs to be recalled and is not included in the past recalls that have been recorded. Just over two years ago the automatic driver's side door lock became unreliable. There are times when the door must be manually locked or unlocked. The situation seems to be exacerbated by heat and direct sunlight on the driver's side door. My concern is that not knowing if the door is locked or unlocked creates a safety hazard both while driving and in the event of a need for quick exit from the vehicle. Simply looking at the manual locking switch can be deceptive because it will move into the locked position without fully engaging the lock. For safety reasons I prefer to drive with the doors locked. Having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, there is a significant increased risk of carjacking, injury, theft, etc. Having the doors lock correctly is a basic safety precaution. Additionally, in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. In this automated age we tend to rely on the automated systems of our vehicles and it's unfamiliar to resort to the manual locking system, which as I explained above can be deceptive. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. The dealer charges an average of $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced which amounts to making the owner pay for a known safety issue. At this price many will forgo getting the problem fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. Nissan should recall the affected vehicles and repair this safety issue.

Murano 6-cyl

  • 90,000 miles
Second owner, purchased with 63000 miles. First occurrence was driving on the highway a short distance (45min) started to notice the speed pulsing on flat stretches of road with the cruise control being set at 60 mph. I would manually take over the gas pedal just to have to constantly give it more gas then less gas to maintain 60 on flat ground. To the point of nailing it to maintain 60 then out of no where it would start to go accelerate suddenly up and I would let off the gas to stay @ 60mph and hold the pedal there for about 20 secs just to lose power on flat ground again and would just repeat over and over. When I got off the exit ramp it was sputtering really bad and had a hard time just getting it home w/O hurting myself or others. Next day nothing. Then over time (1 month) it happened 4 other times but is seeming to get worse. Then today I stopped in town at a red light. When it came time to go the care jus sat there and the RPM gauge moved up but the car didn't move forward. I immediately put on hazards, put car in park, shut it off, then restarted it to luckily be able to pull off. Went on highway home going 60mph and the surging back and forth with power to weakness to sudden power was the worst its ever been. Car isn't under warranty due to being 2nd owner but come on Nissan really? I'm a student/new father and the $ is crunched like most families now in this economy. I bought a Nissan B/C its reputation of quality and endurance/resilience. I would be sick if this injured my baby B/C this car wasn't in the "original recall range". it is very dangerous and could lead to both my tires locking up on the highway going 60 or even faster leaving not only us in jeopardy but everyone around me on the road also.

The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, she attempted to accelerate further, but the vehicle lost power and stalled. The anti-lock brake and battery lights also began to illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The battery was replaced, but the failure continued and reccurred intermittently at different speeds on three occasions. After the final failure, the vehicle was towed home. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000. The VIN was not available.

While driving on the toll road in houston, my vehicle lost speed and power going up an overpass, and luckily I was able to pull off to the shoulder before complete loss of power. The check engine light came on prior to this event. I was able to crank the engine but it would not start. My passenger needed medical assistance due to the heat (100 degrees), and my vehicle had to be towed to the Nissan dealer. This dealer indicated a dtcode P0340, cam sensor and crank sensor failure, and repairs totaled $765.93. Researching this failure, I learned that there was an earlier recall of my exact vehicle for this failure, but my VIN was not included in the recall. After searching the internet, I discovered many, many other owners of 2003 Muranos with VIN numbers outside of the recall are experiencing the exact same problem as the recall. Here's a link to just one of several sites: www.thehappyrock.com/2007/11/15/have-your-car-fixed-for-free-auto-recalls-and-my-2003-Nissan-Murano/ calls to Nissan usa, requesting they consider a recall of my vehicle, were denied. I am requesting via this complaint that the recall of 2003 Muranos be expanded to include all vehicles with the failure code(s) relating to the cam sensor/crank sensor. The problem is a faulty weld, and although Nissan denies a relationship between their earlier production failures and my auto's failure, there is a definite problem with their weld. I feel fortunate that I did not have my children in the car, and that I was able to steer to the side of the road on the tollroad before stalling. With the average tollroad speed well over 70 mph, my safety and the safety of my passenger was in question due to the location of the breakdown. I hope this never happens to anyone with young children or elderly passengers in the vehicle.

The passenger side door lock is not locking or unlocking completely when using the remote or key. It appears to be locked, but the door can be opened from outside the car and visa versa. Starting in May 2011, the driver's side door lock is doing the same thing. I'm also unable to enter the vehicle through neither of the front doors and have to enter through the back doors to unlock the front doors manually from the inside. This is a safety issue as I or a passenger can get locked out of the car or think the door is locked while in the car and someone from the outside could gain access. In case of emergency, I may or may not be able to get into or out of the car. Starting in November 2010 while raising the window on the passenger side with the power window button, it automatically lowers on it's own on occasion. It stops when half open. To keep it closed, I have to inch it up slowly. Again this is a safety issue. The lock to the gas cap failed to open around 40,000 miles.
