Murano V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 90,000 miles

The CVT transmission works great for scooters but is a terrible idea for vehicles.

Murano S 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

While driving 65 to 70 miles per hour, I hit the accelerator to pass and heard/felt the transmission slipping and check engine light came on and car went into limp mode. I had the car towed to Lee Myles and they said transmission is shot. Code P0744 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Intermittent. The transmission could not be rebuilt as Nissan does not MFG all the necessary parts. They ordered a brand new one from the dealer.

This will be my last Nissan I ever purchase as this is a known problem with the Nissan CVT transmission's and Nissan should at least cover part of the $3,500.

Murano LE V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I thought my murano would be a great car. But at 75000 miles and the transmission goes out. 4000. later I get another transmission. What was sad is nissan wanted to do the trans for 5300. I had my trans rebuilt on my truck and it was 3400. I had the same folks do the trans for my murano they replaced with a rebuilt from the same place nissan would have to purchase it and replaced the front motor mount all for 3500+ tax so 3950 for all of it. It pays to shop! I may go back for oil changes but I sure will be watching close.

Murano S 3.5L

  • CVT transmission

Total Transmission failure at 53K miles! Nissan should absolutely cover this. This is my fifth Nissan, but will be the last unless Nissan steps up and backs up their cars by covering this cost.

Murano LX

  • CVT transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Our 2011 Nissan Murano LX had a CVT transmission failure at 78k miles. There was never any suggestion of a problem, i.e., slippage, unwarranted acceleration or deceleration. However, the car was at a stop sign and just died on the spot. Having learned that Nissan is well aware of the many problems and failures with this transmission design it is unfathomable to me that they are not currently responsible for a full replacement of this transmission!

Murano

Transmission was replaced 10/27/15. Now here we are a year and a half later, and the transmission is out again. The work done in 2015 was performed at a Nissan dealership.

Murano SL 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 96,538 miles

I bought the 2011 Murano in September of 2016 and by the end of December noticed really loud whining noise from under the hood while driving. I thought it was shifting funny and when it started jerking real bad while in reverse I took it back to local Nissan dealer where I purchased it. They said the CVT transmission needed replaced and it would cost around $4500. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they said they couldn't do anything for me because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. I said why did they extend the warranty on other murano models up to 2010 to 120,000 miles for the CVT but not 2011 models because there is obviously still problems with it. I talked to multiple people at consumer affairs they all refused to help or give me any assistance.I had no choice but to pay the repair out of pocket final cost $4393.49. I'll never buy Nissan again this vehicle has been a nightmare.

Murano LE V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 51,000 miles

Under 60,000 miles, but over 5 years so no covered under warranty (5.5 years). In the process to find out what Nissan will do about it, if anything.

Update from Oct 10, 2016: Nissan Assist offered to replace the actual transmission, but did not offer to pay for the labor cost related to replace it. Had to pay $2,100 in labor costs.

Murano

  • CVT transmission
  • 78,000 miles

The Murano CVT Transmission had a total failure and needs to be replaced. After being towed to the dealer, I'm told they have problems with them. I'm told the extended warranty would cover it if I let them use a transmission from a junk yard. I told them this would not be acceptable. Then I'm told the extended warranty is not thru Nissan. I'm advised to call Nissan Consumer Affairs. They put me off two days. Dealer calls and tells me if I pay another $900 I can get a re-manufactured transmission.

Next Nissan Consumer Affairs in Tennessee (Martha No last name) tells me she will look into it. That night I go on the internet and find a Nissan Program that extends the warranty on the CVT Transmissions for 10 years and 120,000 miles. I then talk to Nissan Consumer Affairs explain that I am looking at the program. I am told that now that a third party warranty is involved they could not participate and the program has ended. They went on to say my vin number is not covered even if it has the same bad transmission as the others. I went back to my dealer to let them know what kind of treatment I was receiving.

The dealer seemed concerned but then again I was in the sales showroom. I asked the service director to see what he could do, he came back with nothing from his manufacture rep. I received a call I had asked for from the executive level at Nissan consumer affairs (Heather) poor girl no last name either, in her words " This information is not available" Really?? She went on to tell me that her department had looked into my case thoroughly and to my surprise found that my vin # did not fall into the program and all she could offer was another apology.

My vehicle is still at the dealer now almost two weeks. No resolution. I am not going to let this go, This has reached such a level of ignorance that someone must be accountable. I would appreciate if any readers may know the appropriate people at Nissan to contact . i also want to warn any readers about Nissan. Thanks for your ear.

This is my 2nd Murano - first one 2006 had 185,000, no problems, - this one the transmission fails at less then 100k mile and cost 5k to fix. Nissan wouldn't do anything and they know there is a problem with this transmission.
