As I was approaching the end of an exit ' I put my foot on the brakes to slow down but instead the car took off at an excessive speed while I watched in horror and fearing for my life. It kept going until it hit a free. The car was totaled. I escaped with minor injuries. The problem I have is that I had dropped collision a few months before so now I'm out of a car and about $6,000 for which the car was more or less worth.

The contact owns a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that she had the fuel filler tube in the vehicle replaced due to rust. Most recently, she received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07V435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap) and is awaiting reimbursement from the manufacturer. While driving 25 mph, the brake line snapped and the vehicle was taken to the mechanic. The contact was informed that all the brake lines were rusted and bolted to the fuel lines, which were also rusted. In order for the mechanic to repair the brake lines, he would also have to repair the fuel lines at an estimated cost of $1,000. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that they would open a new file for her issue. The current and failure mileages were approximately 78,000.
