When this was first reported they said bag was fixed. I never rode in passenger side but my husband who was an invalid did and it never registered when anyone sat in the seat. The light read airbag off. Took it to Nissan more than once and they never fixed it. I called it in several times and was told that they had to order some part or other, then it flooded here in Goldsboro and Nissan dealership moved and they claimed they don't have any information on when I called. They claimed that the warranty and the recall on the airbags have expired. What a mess and on we go.

air bag not activating with adult passenger

So since I bought this POS with 8 miles on it, it has been nothing but a pain in my ass! I have had a computer replaced in it twice (still doesn't work correctly), it has been in the shop MULTIPLE I mean MULTIPLE times for the air bag that still does not recognize my passengers, the air conditioner has been worked on many times ( STILL does NOT work correctly) and many other things. The paint is jacked up and when I walked around at the dealership pointing out all the new cars with the same problem, the worker told me I need to stop. Ummmm why cause you continue to sell these cars KNOWING that there are problems that you people won't fix. I had and still have an electrical shortage that Pat at the Southaven dealership told me to just drive it until Monday when I could bring it back it. I replied what and hope like hell it does not catch on fire? He said well let's just hope not but it could! I have hired an attorney and gone that route only for my car to be deemed a LEMON and Nissan offer me $3000 but refused to take the car back unless I paid them almost $15,000 for taxes, tags and mileage deduction. Really? So all to say I still am driving a POS that I am sure to tell EVERYONE I know and ANYONE that will listen to NOT EVER BUY A NISSAN because they do not care about their customers or if their vehicles are safe or not. I am stuck with a car that I pray everyday does not catch on fire with my children in it, that I am scared to drive, that Nissan does not care that is a POS, and that is not worth even half of what I paid for it. There are so many other problems with this car that I do not even know where to list but the electrical system does not work properly, I mean if you hit a but it might change the air for you or if you turn the radio up it might turn the air conditioner up for you. I had it repainted to fix the sh*tty paint job that Nissan did and the jack asses painted bugs in it. Does Nissan care? Why hell no! One lady told me on the phone at consumer affairs or customer affairs that it was not her vehicle! Go figure! The last two days there has been a grinding noise coming from my back brake/tire. No idea what it is but I am sure it wilol cost me a large fortune to fix it because Nissan is not going to care! the air blows cold at 60 and 61 but you switch to 62 and it is warm and you switch to 63 and it is hot. The dealership told me... (don't pee on yourself laughing) well ma'am it will not blow any colder than the air outside!!! Hey ya idiot it is only 50 degrees outside!! He says well why are you running the air to begin with. I told him well let's see I am a woman and I have own personal summers no matter what temp it is outside but my damn if I want to run my air at 30 degrees outside I should be able to do so!!!! I now need meds for high blood pressure and refuse to go back to the dealership for anything!

Since the time we got the car brand new the airbag passenger light has been an issue. It's been into the dealership numerous times for the same problem & they just can't seen to fix it. Will the airbag go off in an accident? No clue. Definite safety issue. Stay away. Don't get this car.

Pathfinder SL 3,5 V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 10,000 miles

The Air bag passenger light, wich means it is not activate is ON even when adult is sitting there.

this not always happen, the issue is intermitent.

in the dealer they have checked so many times, they update the software, and ended up saying, "it works" the program says it works it is only we don't know why the light is turning on. seriously?

they asked to give me some written documentation where they confirm what they are saying, I don't want to have an accident of course, but just in case I wouldn't like to be in a car accident and the aribags doesn't work. So far the issue is still happening, and dealer hasn't offered any other alternative to fix it

The passenger airbag goes on which means that the airbag is off when an adult is in the front seat. I weigh about 125 pounds and the airbag light turns on sometimes for more than 4 to 5 miles. Nissan has said that I am a small adult and that it is perfectly safe. It seems to me that if the air bag light is going on the sensor is not working properly. I searched the manual for a specific weight but they do not have one. Apparently, Nissan is willing to risk the safety of my family in this Nissan Pathfinder! If the company had any integrity they would replace the passenger seat sensor. I have driven in many other cars that have a sensor in the passenger seat and it works properly.

Pathfinder 3.5L

I have brought my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder in for service on four different occasions for the Passenger Side Air Bag Sensor. The sensor comes on stating that the air bag is off while an adult is sitting in the seat. This has been recalled for this issue as well. I have several pictures of different people sitting in the seat while the light is on. I was told by the dealer mechanic that if I was worried about the Air Bag not deploying during an accident that I shouldn't have people sitting in my front passenger side seat. I am ready to have the dealer purchase this vehicle back.

Pathfinder L 3.5L

This seems to be an intermittent issue. When an adult 125lbs passenger does not sit straight on his ass the light weight detector will turn the passenger airbag off. But who sits straight after 2 - 3 hours drive ?

I reported this problem to the dealer who did absolutely nothing about this. My word is not enough for Nissan, they want me to do their job, to take pictures if it ever occurs again. The car is 6 days out of the dealer. Nissan has a crappy service !

Update from Sep 13, 2013: The first time they recalibrated the airbag sensor.

It did it again twice lately at 10,000 miles and brought it back to the dealer.

They said they wouldn't do anything about it. I offered to take a video and they said to me even then, if they can't reproducte the problem, they wouldn't do anything about it.

I don't know what to do next ?

Update from Sep 13, 2013: I took a video of the problem and you can find it here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03ptZNHknbs
