Versa

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,710 miles

I have had none stop problems with this car since I obtained it in 2013. It has stopped in the middle of the road for electrical issues; in the driveway again for no reason. CAA knows me very well. Now there is a recall on the car where I have to bring it in and get it fixed free of charge now though.

Versa S 1.8L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Owned a 2008 Versa hatchback since 2011. Got it with 26,000 miles on it. Everytime I take the car on a road trip (5-10 hour drives) the crank case position sensor fails. The car becomes very unpredictable. Sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. If it does start, it randomly stalls at red lights or in stop and go traffic. On highways speeds the car will have a hard time accelerating, engine speed will jump up and down causing the car to jerk. Pretty dangerous. It's a $300 fix at our local nissan dealer ($100 parts, $200 labor). At our local firestone it's $200($100 part, $100 labor).

I've only taken this car on longer trips one to the Grand Canyons and twice to the Bay Area. All three times the car had the same problem. Now I just rent a car to go on longer trips still cheaper than replacing the part and I get to drive a new car.

Seems like other Sentra and Altima owners are having the same problems.
