First noticed problem with the car losing speed with steady pressure on the accelerator. Two days later, car was slow to accelerate, hesitant to go from a stop. Did a clutch test by putting the car in 3rd gear while stopped and took my foot off the clutch, it did not stall like it should have. Had car towed to the dealership on a Saturday. After waiting about two hours was told that they couldn't find any problems with the car and would need to take it apart. Was put in a loaner car and told everything should be under warranty. Service center closed on Sundays...

Tuesday I was finally able to get some answers about the car, they claimed the problem was a worn clutch and that was a "wear and tear" item. Phone quote of $2100 so I asked for a written estimated. I then called Nissan USA consumer affairs and opened a case. Thursday I was finally emailed a written "quote" of $1188 for parts and $978 for labor plus rental costs and a few other things to bring the grand total to $2214. Friday I was finally able to get in touch with the Nissan consumer affairs rep handling my case. She said that she had spoken to the dealership and would need a couple days to review the case. Today (3/18/15) I was informed that Nissan would not replace any of the items under warranty because it was all related to the clutch and that wear and tear items are not under any warranty. (I have the security plus gold extended warranty).

The dealership wants to charge me for every day of having the rental/loaner, refuses to give an itemized quote, and says they will not release my car until the rental and "service" (tear-down of my car) is paid for.

I bought a new car so that I wouldn't have to spend $2000 a year on service of cars and to have reliable transportation. This car is only a year and a half old with less than 17k miles. My old cars with 100k+ miles were more reliable than this brand NEW car.
