I bought this car in July 2013 (2014, way back when you could still get new cars without a wait). When winter rolled around I lived south of Battle Creek Michigan and drove to Grand Rapids Michigan daily for work. I bought this vehicle for the fuel economy, for the commute. We had a hard winter and that was when I realized this vehicle was not designed for snowy cold environments. The active shutters on the front of the motor (designed to hold heat in on startup for faster warm up and automatically open and allow heat to escape when driving at high speed and building up excess heat), froze shut.

I took it to the dealership and they played it off like it was shocking and took an industrial blowdryer (heat gun, whatever) to the front of the car. (I am not kidding). I went back for this so frequently I learned all their names. This took over an hour multiple time. Eventually I complained so much they offered to turn off this feature in the computer of the car. Why they did not do that to start with, I will never understand. I did not notice any decrease in gas mileage and I do not understand why this was not the first option. I probably gave them ten extra hours of my life, not to mention time spent by the side of the road waiting for the overheated engine to cool on multiple occasions. Another Fox Nissan of Grand Rapids stellar situation. :(
