Versa Note SV

  • CVT transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Don't buy Nissan vehicles, you will be wasting your money. The mechanic diagnose the 2016 Nissan Versa Note SV, it requires to replace the the CVT for a cost $1700. That did not resolve the issue of the acceleration problem. They diagnose it again, they recommend to replace the entire transmission to a cost $5000.00. We bought the car at $9,500 used at 17K miles. Nissan will not replace the transmission with out a cost. I am not going to pay $5000 for a new transmission. I ended up donating the car to Kar4Kids. There is definitely a problem with their CVT technology and Nissan will not acknowledge the issue.

DO NOT BUY ANY NISSAN VEHICLE. You buy it cheap, you end up with crap.

Versa Note SV 1.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 85,559 miles

I bought my 2016 Nissan Versa Note used less than a year ago, with about 77k miles on it. It was a great little go cart with a hard body at first but 8 months into my ownership I was on my way home and noticed it was shuddering a little and on a rather small but steep hill we hit a red light and stopped second from the top of the hill. When the light changed I tried to accelerate and the vehicle died and started rolling backwards. After that incident, the vehicle seemed to always have a shuddering shake, until the evening of January 16th 2022 when I was trying to get onto the interstate. The shuddering suddenly got really bad and the vehicle started like jerking or hiccuping like it was not being controlled by me it was accelerating and decelerating on its own in 3 sec intervals each acceleration accompanied by a jump or 3 rpms and on deceleration it dropped to 0 rpms. I was able to get it home in 2 hours for a normally 20min drive.

I called the dealership and they agreed transmission failed most likely and advised they could not put in a rebuilt so I was looking at about $4k, mind you the vehicle is only valued at $6k. And it is not covered under the extended warranty as it is in the 85k mile mark.

Versa Note S 1.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Got this car for my little sister used from Nissan at 45k. 6 months later she complained to me about some funny shifting, so I took it out for a test drive and didn't feel anything and gave it back. She complained again, so I took it on a trip to Los Angeles. I made it there just fine but when I had to leave it wouldn't move just rev. I ended up making it home 3 hours later for a trip that should have only taken me 45min tops and dropped it off at Nissan. I walked in expecting them to give me the run around, but as soon as I told the guy that the car wouldn't move he said " Oh, must me your transmission huh? You're the 2nd person today, lol " They ended up fixing it free of charge since it was still under warranty but I was told the transmission needed to be serviced every 30k which I think is crazy seeing as how I have a 1996 Accord with 200k and I have never serviced the transmission on that car :P Im waiting for my sister to finish paying it off so we can in turn sell it and get something more reliable, wish I would have known about this website beforehand tho.

Versa Note SV 1.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 59,900 miles

I THINK NISSAN NEEDS TO REALLY MAKE BETTER TRANSMISSIONS. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY YEAR OF FAILURE, YET YEAR AFTER YEAR THEY CONTINUE TO MAKE THESE UNWORTHY CVT TRANSMISSIONS. 100 MORE MILES AND I WOULD HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ALSO DID NOT HAVE A RENTAL CAR, AND DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT, FORTUNATELY I KNEW, SO I ASKED THEM WHAT THE PROCEDURE WAS FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THEY GAVE ME NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT. I HAD TO THREATEN TO REPORT THESE PEOPLE TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU BECAUSE THEY KEPT ASKING ME FOR THE DUMBEST SH*T IN ORDER TO BE REIMBURSED. FINALLY AFTER MANY WEEKS I GOT MY MONEY.
