OK we bought our Alero 2002 in '05 used from find a car who as we know are now gone. The issues are simple. The POS engine sucks. I've replaced it three times. The gaskets. The type of rad fluid eats thru the gaskets. So at 2000.00/engine and the cost and now the Oil lamp, battery lamp and security lamp are on and now again wont start. Do I go to the garage again? or should I junk it? I only have 7 more payments. I'm glad Olds is gone because this kind of junk needs to be off the road.

This was a life-threatening situation for myself and other motorists. Stranded and had to be towed to the nearest city 35 miles away over 125 miles away from my home. The timing chain had snapped causing damage to the cylinder head. Had to pay the towing charge and rent a car for 8 days. This engine is advertised as having a maintenance free timing chain. The defective part was the timing chain tensioner, which was redesigned in 2004 to prevent this type of extensive engine damage and life threatening situation. GM could have either issued a recall to correct this problem or this defective part could have been replaced when the vehicle was getting its 60000-mile maintenance on 3/29/07 while it was still under warranty.
