Bravada

  • 60,000 miles
The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. The contact stated the vehicle intermittently stalled after driving the vehicle for a short period of time at 30 mph. The vehicle had to be turned off and on before resetting independently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted who advised that they should take the vehicle to the dealer for the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.

It's the same as the rest of the complaints. While driving car at any speed just completely stops for no reason and without any warning. I bought this nice 2002 olds Bravada for my wife and now she & the kids have been stuck in the middle of traffic on major intersections 4X4's needing to be towed into the dealership. Dealership acts like they want to help and trys to fix problem put new computer in. Each time this happens several months go by and then all of the sudden it happens again. Stalled out at a major intersection without warning with two kids in the car and my wife in a panic for her life and for the kids. There have been tons of complaints some say it's the motor but GM isn't doing anything just extending the warranty on the SUVS. When this happens and somebody dies from it I guess then GM will stand up and have to do something. I don't want this to be my wife and kids. This is a lemon. These cars should not be on the road not only are they a danger to my family but to anybody else out there on the road that is behind or in front of these cars. Peoples lives are at risk here and it's not to be taken lightly. What kind of law suits is GM wanting to get involved in before they make this right" these cars are a ticking time bomb just waiting to happen at anytime anywhere without warning. I need answers and a quick fix now not when somebody dies! I traded our Jeep in for this newer Bravada so my wife and kids would be safe in a nice new SUV. Ends up they are not safe at all in this SUV their lives are in danger everyday because they are having to ride in that SUV everyday. Think about your loved ones riding around in this Bravada how would you feel... would they be in it or in some other SUV" but what is our option we are stuck paying for this SUV that is a lemon and ticking time bomb. That may kill my family and a lot of other peoples families. We need to get this issues resolved asap peoples lives are on the line here. This is not a joke.

Olds Bravada stalled while driving at highway speeds (50-55 mph), lost of steering and brakes. Engine would not start for approx 20 minutes. Tried calling olds 1 800 number for assistance and number out of service that day (Sunday). Vehicle was partially on roadway. This is one of many problems with the auto, mirror, heating, rear window washer blade, gauges not functional, engine replacement (piston ring problem). I would have to say that this is the most problematic vehicle that I have ever owned.

Consumer has had multiple, reoccuring problems with new vehicle since first purchased in October 2001. Car has been returned to dealer more than 12 times in 18 months and has placed significant burden on the owner. Vehicle now has new major mechanical problems with both the engine and transmission. Although the vehicle is still under warranty, the large number of persistent problems classifies this vehicle as unreliable and, more importantly, unsafe. Owner has contacted dealer regarding a replacement vehicle (lemon law), however the dealership has directed the owner to the maker company (GM/Oldsmobile). The maker has responded by insisting that the warranty was designed for such problems and they have referred the owner back to the dealer for continual repairs. In other words, neither the maker nor their representative dealer is willing to assist the owner in resolving the situation. The dealership has since closed due to owner retirement, as well. More than five complaints have been issued to the maker from the owner by either phone, electronically or mail without any positive feeback from the maker or any attempt to rectify the situation. Note: The incident date listed here is simply the purchase date - all incidents have been continous and on going since date of purchase. 2 windshield wiper failures repaired under warranty 1st at 3,973 miles 2nd at 11,660 miles.

End of paragraph.his is a disguised discription of complete, sudden and unexpected catistrophic engine failure. GM's only proposal is to extend warrenty. Warrenty won't protect my family, when this engine fails in busy high speed traffic. Please respond.

I received a notification from Oldsmobile that my vehicles engine has the potential to produce a cracking of the engine cylinder bore. If it happens I am to take the car to a dealer and the engine will be replaced. If this happens the car will be immobile. How am I to do this" the notification was not a recall but rather a policy letter. Why wasn't this car recalled and the engine inspected to determine if this was beginning to or had the potential to happen" dealer plead ignorance.

Received notice from GM concerning my 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, alerting me to the possibility of engine failure due to a cylinder sleeve defect. GM's proposals is to extend the warranty. This is completely unacceptable, as a safety issue, we all know the inherent dangers of an engine destroying itself at 65 mph. Please check into this, before people start getting killed. The vehicle's AWD drive would not engage until the vehicle reached 25 mph. The consumer indicated that this fact was not mentioned in the owner's manual or any of Oldsmobile's ads.
