problem #1

Aztek 4WD

  • miles
On 9/4/01 with 3580 milesi went to my dealer of purchase (dallas automotive) to report loud clunking noises coming from the car during shifting and gas engagement. I was told this was normal operation. I was told this again on 12/17/01 by nourse automotive. Then on 7/02/02 with 24,769miles the problem was a bad driveshaft. It was replaced, but I was told to drive on it while the parts were ordered. A few weeks later they were installed and the problem persisted, now with strong vibrations coming from the rear. I was told that the bad drive shaft had broken other parts. I am waiting for those to come in and they still have me driving it. Yesterday the car suddenly lost power to the wheels. The engine was reving as I pushed the gas, but the car began to slow. At 55mph I suddenly dropped to 40 and could not maintain speed. It did this periodically on my trip making driving dangerous since I didn't know if I would go when I pressed the gas (merging). Pontiac was notified and has told me to keep driving it. I feel it is not safe since during a merge or pass I may lose power. The original problem has been looked at 4 separate times by the dealer two of which I was told nothing was wrong.
