major electrical problems

We bought this 2002 aztek and within the first week it was back to the dealer because it wouldn't start every time, after three times taking it there my husband had to get very nasty. Ta da it got fixed, well that only lasted a short time. Over the time we have had it, it has the lights going on and off, doors locking, you cant use the horn because it wont shut off til you unhook the battery. Now we have found out that it was in an accident. Also, a friend who is a mechanic told us that we need a new computor, 800.00 plus labor, and no promise that whatever caused the computor to go bonkers in the first place wont happen to the new one!! We want to get rid of it but dont want someone to get hurt in it. We have been told by people on line who have had this model and year that they have lost steering while driving, some have lost their brakes, some have had electrical problems. What the heck is wrong with pontiac, ? What do we do? Maybe just junk it. Sad part is, I really liked this little car, it was roomy, great in snow and very easy to handle( when it worked) What to do?
