The evening of January.24th,2017 I was traveling on the highway heading home and when I went to slow down because a semi pulled out in front of me I noticed the cars behind me were not reducing their speed & the car behind me almost hit me but swerved to avoid it then laid on their horn cussing me because my brake lights were not working until I let off the brakes they came on and stayed on, so I pulled over put car in park my husband got out and was checking things out and sure enough it was like they had a mind of their own. So I called for my father in law to come follow me home so that I would not cause an accident and when I went to put the car into gear my gear shift would not come out of park! so I shut car off let it set for 30 minutes started back up and my ignition got stuck and continued cranking over even after started, and now it seems to be a continuous thing with my car, my steering is making a noise almost like my wheels are going to fall off. I am scared this is a death trap

I have been having an issue with the right rear brake light and signal light on this vehicle for about 3 months. The signal light may or may not blink twice, then goes off. The brake light might come on for as long as 10 seconds when you apply the brake. I changed the bulbs, to no avail. I even purchased a new wiring harness. My mechanic believes it is the brake light control module. I know there is a recall on this vehicle for this. I contacted byford Buick/GMC here in chickasha, okla. To do the recall. This dealer has a history of taking a customers car in for recall, then telling the customer the recall didn't actually fix the problem and running up a huge bill. When I dropped the vehicle off for the brake lamp malfunction recall, I was very specific that they only do the recall, and nothing more. They called two days later and said the car was ready. When we picked it up, the brake lamp was still not working. They said they only fixed the recall, I said that was what the recall notice was for, what did you replace. The service manager tim said he did not know what the repair was, however they could check it out for $112 an hour. I have researched this problem and found out that a lot of people on the internet are having this same issue on this make, model and year car. There is a recall of 550,000 Pontiac G6's for a brake lamp control module. The dealer said their recall was for a retainer clip. This car is dangerous, because of the fact that we never know when the lights are going to work. I need help getting the dealer to actually do the recall on this vehicle

When I drive my car, a strong odor of gass fills up my car. It is so strong that it gives me a killer headache. I have a gas leak coming from the back of the car. The shop I take my car to have told me that it is more than likely a fuel pump leakage. They have told me that they have had to fix many, many fuel pump leakages on Pontiac G6S. Also, my tail lights have stopped working for some reason. They both stopped working at the same time. The gas leakage seems to leak durring and after I drive it. The tail lights... I had just gotten off of work when I got into my car and the police officer I work with told me they were not working. That same night I got home and locked my car. I went to get something out of it and they were working fine. After a few days I was pulled over again because they had stopped working again. They currently do not work. The officer also brought up the strong smell of gas she present.I got pulled over on an innercity road.

Brake lights always stay on while driving, and turn off when pressing the brake pedal. This also causes issues with engaging cruise control. Cruise control never works since the brake lights are always on. Shifting out of park is difficult.

My G6 currently is not covered in the recent recalls for this problem (not manufactured in the right month): My problem is the same as other G6 owners where my brake lights will illuminate while driving, and will not illuminate when my brakes are applied, which also affects my cruise control. Over the last 3 years I have had the dielectric lubricant applied 3 times and after 8-12 months the problem returns.

The brake lights will stay on after I remove my foot from the brake pedal, there are also times they do not illuminate when I have my foot on the brake. I also have problems shifting out of park. I have to push the brake pedal very hard for my car to shift. I have also had problems with my cruise control not engaging when I tried to turn it on. I hit the button for cruise & the light just flashes back off instead of staying on like it should.

The brake lights on my 2005 Pontiac G6 do not work properly. At times, they will turn on when I press the gas pedal and they will also just come on randomly. Nine times out of ten when I press the brake pedal they don't come on at all. After taking my car to the dealership, they told me it was my brake sensor. They replaced it, I paid my extremely high bill and then the next day I got pulled over by a police officer because my brake lights were not working. I called the dealership and they said to bring my car back in. I took my car back and they said there was corrosion in the brake lines. They fixed that, I paid my extremely high bill and left. A few days later, my brake lights still did not work. I even took my G6 in for the recall about the brake lights. That didn't work for long either! I tried to put dielectric grease where Pontiac is claiming there is corrosion causing the brakes to seldom work. They worked for about 2 months and just recently my brake lights stopped working again. I have had my car looked at by three different mechanics and no one can give me an answer or a solution. I've been pulled over four times in the past few months due to this dangerous issue. Without brake lights working properly, my car is an accident waiting to happen. At this point, I'm not sure what else to do!

At the time of purchase, I noticed that the cruise control worked intermittently. I brought this to the attention of the sales staff and was told that, due to the price I was paying, there was "no room left to repair something not safety related". this was agreeable to me, so I left it at that. I drove the car for several months with no other apparent issues. Some time later I followed my wife in our other vehicle while she drove the Pontiac. I witnessed the brake lights stay on during times when the lights should not be on. Pulling up to a stop, I witnessed the brake lights go out. Basically, the brake lights stay on when the brake pedal is not being applied, and go out when the pedal is being applied. I contacted the dealership I bought the car from and was told that this is not a warranty issue, but a recall issue. After contacting GM, I was told this is not part of their very limited recall as "the recall is VIN specific".

The contact owns a 2005 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake lamps illuminated when the brake pedal was not being depressed. In addition, the brake lights would not illuminate when the brake pedal was being depressed. The cruise control also did not engage and abrupt force was required to shift the vehicle out of park. The vehicle was scheduled to be diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 09V036000 (exterior lighting) but was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall campaign. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 119,000. Updated 10/31/13

I was driving my car on the highway, I had my cruise control set, and all of a sudden my cars cruise control disengaged, and could not be set again. When I got home I walked around my car with the car running and noticed my brake lights were illuminated with no driver present in the car. I have read online about many Pontiac G6 having this issue, even a recall was sent out but it doesn't effect my car. I also have noticed many G6 driving down the road doing the same thing as mine, brake lights writing on their own or not working at all. It also triggers the car maintenance light to turn on as well.
